- Can anyone replace a Gas Heater?
Only licensed worker can carry out the job.
All piped gas appliances are required to be installed by a licensed worker. The licenced worker should issue a written statement certifying that your gas appliance has been tested and is safe for use.
If you find your piped gas appliance is not working, consult your gas appliance supplier, or Call City Energy at 1800 555 1661, or a licensed worker for advice.
- What are the common faults for a Gas heater?
The most common being the motherboard, next the fan blower motor. Solenoid valve can break down and gas tube inside the heater may leak activating the safety mechanism to shut down the heater.

- There are error codes, how do it know what is means?
Some of the common error codes:
Error code 11: fan is operating; igniter does spark; main burner does not ignite
Error code 51: Gas Inlet Solenoid Valve fault

- I have a thermocouple failure and a handyman recommending bypassing it, is it legal and safe?
The thermocouple is a thermoelectric device that shuts off the gas supply to the water heater if the pilot light goes out. Its function is simple but very important for safety.
It is dangerous to bypass.
- What happens when a thermocouple fails?
Normally when the thermocouple malfunctions or isn’t working, it simply shuts off the gas to your heater. This is important, particularly if the pilot light is out, because it prevents harmful gas from leaking into your home.
